When I'm 64

Written by Paul when he was only 16, but with a definite 1920's vibe. Showing some people are just naturally very talented. When I'm 64 most likely wound up on Sgt. Pepper's because Paul's dad was 64 that year. A lovely clarinet arrangement and harmony by George Martin too, who gave so many Beatles tune a classy, classical and classic sound.

When I get older, losing my hair, many years from now,
                                                                    G
will you still be sending me a Valentine, birthday greetings, bottle of wine?
                                                 G7     C
If I'd been out 'till quarter to three, would you lock the door?
                 D#7  (3334) G                     E7   A7
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when
 D7       G         D7 G
I'm sixty-four?

Em          D        Em
Hmm mmm mmm.
Em                B7
You'll be older, too.
Em                      Am            C   D7          G            D7
Aaah, and if you say the word, I could stay with you.

G                                                                              D7
I could be handy, mending a fuse, when your lights have gone.

You can knit a sweater by the fireside, Sunday mornings, go for a ride.
                                                          G7 C
Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?

                 D#7  (3334) G                     E7   A7
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when
 D7       G         D7 G
I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage in the Isle of Wight if it's not to dear.
Em                B7
We shall scrimp and save.
Em                      Am                  C   D7                G         D7
Ah, grandchildren on your knee, Vera, Chuck, and Dave.
G                                                                         D7
Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view.
                                                                                         G
Indicate precisely what you mean to say, yours sincerely wasting away.
                                                          G7 C
Give me your answer, fill in a form, mine forever more.

                 D#7  (3334) G                     E7   A7
Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when
 D7       G         D7 G
I'm sixty-four?
